GRACE:

Found 156 Times in the NT. NT: 5485 charis (khar'-ece); from NT: 5463; graciousness (as gratifying), of manner or act (abstract or concrete; literal, figurative or spiritual; especially the divine influence upon the heart, and its reflection in the life; including gratitude):

Eph 2:8 for by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God

SIN:

S# 266 "hamartias" A noun; Found 175 times in the NT. The sin nature of mankind or "the body of sin". See Psa. 51: 5, Rom. 5: 12, Eph. 2: 3.

Sin S# 264 "hamartano"A verb found 43 times in the NT. A trespass, a transgression of the law, an act of "Sin" a fault.

The remedy for "sin" Jesus "The Lamb of God" that taketh away the "sin of the world"; John 1: 29, Isa. 53: 1-10, Matt. 1:21-25, Acts 8: 30-36, 1st. Pet. 1: 18-22.

SAVED:

S# 4982 "sozo"(sode'-zo); from a primary sos (contraction for obsolete saoz, "safe"); to save, i.e. deliver or protect (literally or figuratively): heal, preserve, save (self), do well, be (make) whole. Found 109 times in the NT.

TEMPTED:

S# 3985 "perraza"; The test of faith or character of a person by trial, enticement or adversity. Found 38 times in the NT. Jesus was "tempted of the devil" in Matt. 4: 1-11, by Pharisees in Matt. 16: 1-12. A person can also "tempt the Spirit" [Holy Ghost] by attempting to "use the Spirit" for personal benefit. See Acts 5: 1-11. God does not "tempt" people to do evil, but allows Satan to test them to a certain point. But not beyond what they are able to overcome. God will always prepare a way of escape. James 1:13. Mankind is "tempted" by being drawn away from God by their own lust. And when the "lust is conceived" in the heart sin is the result. This will end in spiritual death, if not repented of. James 1: 14-15.

TEMPTATION:

S# 3986 "peirasimos"; is the result of being "tempted" to transgress the Law of God.

FAITH:

S# 4102 The moral conviction of the truthfulness of God, the Bible as his "WORD", Jesus Christ as his "Son" and the Holy Ghost as his Spirit. The confidence in the "Blood of Jesus" to "take away sin" and the power of the "New Birth" to convert, regenerate a person into a "new creation". John 3: 14-21, Acts 3: 19-25, Rom. 6: 1-14, 12: 1-4.

Strong's dictionary # 4102; pistis (pis'-tis); from NT: 3982. The persuasion, i.e. credence; moral conviction [of religious truth, or the truthfulness of God or a religious teacher] , especially reliance upon Christ for salvation; abstractly, constancy in such profession; by extension, the system of religious (Gospel) truth itself: Heb 11:1 " Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen"

REPENT:

S# 3341 24 times in the NT. "mentanoia" The change of the mind [or heart] with "Godly sorrow" 2nd. Cor. 7: 10; From a life of "sin" or evil to a life of righteousness or "right living".

REPENTANCE:

S# 3340 "mentanoeo" The act of or the result of moral conviction and being sorry for sin and the wrong life style, and to turn around and go in another direction.

S# 37 "hagiazo" found 6 times in the NT. To set apart or to dedicate a person place or thing to the service of God. To consecrate or to make "Holy", to purify the inward man and the change to be reflected in the outward appearance.

SANCTIFICATION:

S# 38 "hagiasmos" The act of the "grace of God" by the Spirit [Holy Ghost] in accepting the personal dedication of the person by purifying the "inward person" or the soul removing any condemnation. This is both an experience of receiving a definite "work of grace". Also a continuing work as a person grows in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. See 1st. Cor. 1: 30, 1st. Thess. 4: 3-4, 2nd. Thess. 2: 13 and 1st. Pet. 1: 2.

HOLY GHOST BAPTISM:

A combination of three words; "Holy" S# 40 "Hagios" the divinity of Holiness of God, Ghost S# 4151 "peunma" the breath or the "life of God". And Baptism S# 908 "bapisma" to be covered in or to be immersed in something i.e. water or the Spirit.

The word "spirit" is found 261 times in the NT; And 90 times as Holy Spirit. When both words begin with a "capital letter" they refer to the "Third person of the Godhead".

When a person is "saved" they receive the "spirit of Christ" Rom 8:9 " But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his".

The "Baptism in the Holy Ghost [K J version; Holy Spirit in other bibles] is a deeper experience with God, following Sanctification. The Holy Ghost is also "known as the "Comforter" or the "Spirit of Truth". See John 14: 15- 27, 15:26-27, 16:7-16, Acts 1:4-8, 2:1-18, 10: 1-48, 19 1-10.

FORNICATION:

S# 4202 "porneia" 32 times in the NT. Any elicit sexual outside of marriage. Also "spiritual fornication" pagan worship as a substitute for the worship of Jesus Christ. Accepting false doctrines contrary to the "true teaching" of the "Divine Word of God". Matt. 5: 32, 19: 9, 1st. Cor. 6: 18, 7: 2, Gal. 5: 19-21, Eph. 5:3.

ADULTERY:

S# 3432 "noichos" the unlawful relations with the spouse of another person. 1st. Cor. 6: 9, Heb. 13: 4, James 4: 4.

SABBATH:

OT. S# 7676 "shabbath" to rest, cause to cease, be still. Found 137 times in the OT. The beginning was in Gen. 2: 2-3, when God rested after the six days of creation. Under the Law there was the 7th. Day [our Saturday; at that time days were known by a number not a name] Sabbath, a Sabbath week beginning the 15th. day of the seventh month, from Sabbath to Sabbath. This was also the "Feast of Tabernacles". Now celebrated by Jews as the "Feast of Booths" commemorating the forty years in the wilderness. They lived in booths these eight days. Lev. 23: 34-44. This to begin the next day after Passover. All slaves were freed and all debts were canceled.

There was also a Sabbath year, celebrated each seventh year. Lev. 25:1- 7.The land was to remain idol with no seed planted. Finally there was the fiftieth year Sabbath, know as the "Year of Jubilee" This to begin after leaving Egypt. Lev. 25: 8-17.

NT SABBATH:

S# 4251 "sabbaton" The seventh day of the week, A Sacred or Holy Day celebrated by Jews commemorating leaving Egypt. Christians began celebrating Sunday, the first day of the week as "The Lord's day" celebrating Jesus leaving the tomb @ 60 AD See Acts 20: 7 and 1st. Cor. 16:2. Read also Col. 2: 12-17. Jesus made it very clear to the Pharisees in Matt.12: 1-12, that he was Lord of the Sabbath. Paul addressed the subject of "Holy Days" in Rom. 10: 4,14: 1-8,Gal. 2: 15-21.
